About the Artist: Rob Decker

Rob Decker, a talented photographer and graphic artist, began his journey under the guidance of Ansel Adams in Yosemite National Park at just 19 years old. Today, he aims to explore and capture the essence of each national park through his WPA-style poster art. His remarkable story has been featured in prominent publications such as CNN Travel, Outside Magazine, and Sunset Magazine, among others.

About the Works Progress Administration (WPA)

The WPA was established by President Franklin D. Roosevelt via an executive order on May 6, 1935, as part of his New Deal initiative to alleviate the effects of the Great Depression. The WPA employed a host of creatives, including musicians, artists, writers, actors, and directors, commissioning them to design thousands of posters for various public events, community activities, and educational programs.

At its height, the Federal Art Project provided jobs for over 5,300 artists. Through programs within settlement houses and community centers, artists educated nearly 50,000 children and adults. They established more than 100 art centers nationwide, serving around eight million individuals, ultimately paving the way for the creation of the National Foundation of the Arts.
